Marseille and Nice draw in a game filled with goals
In a hot derby of the Mediterranean, Marseille and Nice drew two goals at the Stade Vélodrome. This result did not serve either team, as the aiglons fell behind in the fight for fourth place in Ligue 1 and Jean-Louis Gasset's team sees the sixth position (last European spot) getting further away.
Both teams, fighting for a place in Europe, entered determined to show their worth, creating several opportunities to score. Just 13 minutes in, Terem Moffi opened the scoring. The Nigerian took advantage of a confusion in the area, dribbled past Pau López and shot at goal.
When the game was barely past the half hour mark, the Olympiens reacted. Jonathan Clauss struck from outside the box, leveling the score before the break. After this, Faaris Moumbagna was sent off, leaving the home team with one less player on the field.
With the break over, Pierre Aubameyang returned inspired and, even with ten men, put the team ahead. At 72', Melvin Bard slipped the ball into the back of the net and rescued a point for the visitors.
