Nuno Mendes returns and Gonçalo Ramos saves a point for PSG
A home slip for Paris Saint Germain (1-1), in a game of great connections to Portugal
Artur Jorge received a well-deserved tribute from Parc des Princes, Nuno Mendes returned to competition and Gonçalo Ramos secured the draw against Rennes, in a penalty kick suffered - after a pass from Vitinha - and converted by the Portuguese forward.
With a minute of silence, applause and banners from the stands, Paris Saint Germain bid farewell this Sunday to the legend Artur Jorge, who had led the club to their second national title in their history (1993/94), the last one before the era of millions coming from Qatar.
Regarding the game, PSG failed to be effective and came close to losing. In a moment of great individual inspiration, Amini Gouiri dribbled past Danilo Pereira and finished with class for Rennes' goal, at 33 minutes.
Luis Enrique did everything for his team to score and did not spare Kylian Mbappé, who left the game with an unhappy face. Gonçalo Ramos was one of the players launched at that moment and ended up being successful in the game, securing the draw very close to the final whistle.
It is also worth noting the return of Nuno Mendes to competition, with the full-back entering the game at 71 minutes and playing his first minutes of the season, after a long recovery from injury. Good news for the club and for the Portuguese national team, especially with Euro 2024 in sight.
Despite dropping points, PSG remains comfortable at the top of Ligue 1, while Rennes gains some ground in a round of defeats for direct rivals in the European race.
